engine takes off on start-up!??
engine takes off on start-up!??
I have been working on an engine that has been sitting for years. My first headache was trying to get the engine oil primed. With your help, I conquered that obstacle. Now that I have oil pressure, I was ready to start the engine. After an afternoon of manually pumping up the fuel pressure, the motor started. Unfortunately, it ran as though I had the gas pedal nailed to the floor. Does anyone know what problems I should be looking for?? I have already checked the pedal linkages and they seem to operate fine. I was going to try to adjust the idle brake on the fuel pump. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks. :'(

A past exp with a diesel racing on startup was air in the fuel lines due to leaky return lines. Find'em, plug 'em. Give it another whirl.
<br>By the way, the second time was the lift pump going and air came in that way too. Same symptom. Air!! >
