Engine Mounts?

Has anyone replaced their worn factory engine mounts with these polyurethane inserts from energy suspension and are they a pain in the rear to install?

http://www.energysuspensionparts.com...sp?prod=5.1114

My driver side mount is worn and causing a God awful rattle / resonance with my exhaust at idle in gear. I would rather purchase rubber pieces because the poly bushings will cause more vibration throughout the truck. Does anybody know where I can purchase rubber replacements?

I bought new OEM replacements bracket and all. $100 each mount and $16 for 2 rubber isolaters.

I just went to the dealership because no other store sold them. They sold me the whole mount, bracket, rubber, and all. There are also 2 different style Isolators that dont come with this assembly. The isolators that came off mine were about an inch thick and the ones that they ordered the first time where nowhere near the same thickness. After telling them it will not work they done some digging and phone calls and found out that they had to order the isolaters off of a 98 because the ones listed for a 95 were not it.

I didnt want to go the polyurathane route unless I needed to because I have replaced many of my rubber bushings and mounts in an old Trans Am I used to own and it made it ride much rougher and vibrate more. This old truck vibrates enough as it is.

I have yet to install the new passenger side mount. I'll tell you how it goes once I install everything. I'm still waiting on the correct isolators.

I thought the driver side was a pain until I started replacing the passenger side. The driver side is pretty much straight forward but when doing the passenger side make sure you loosen the transmission fluid heat exchanger (two 10mm bolts) from the back of the block right above the rubber plug where you insert a timing socket. That was the only way to make enough room to fanagle the mount out of there. The truck vibrates much less but my exhaust is still making racket.

I have the same exhaust as you, and I had a bad vibration/buzzing after I installed it. It drove me nuts! I got to crawling around and looking for anything touching, and the support for the downpipe that is near the trans crossmember was slid too far forward. I loosened it up, slid it back a little, tightened it, and started my truck. Low and behold, the buzzing disappeared. I'd check yours if I were you. Diamond Eye makes the ends that go through the rubber hangers a little long, so they can make contact. I hope this helps.

I crawled under my truck tonight loosened that clamp, banged and yanked on the exhaust and clamp to break both of them free, and then slid back the clamp some and retightened it. I drove it around for a while and it was almost gone. I will see how it does tmrw morning after the exhaust cools down and repeat the procedure to hopefully eliminate it completely.

My hats off to you 69HemiGTX!
