Does this look right?

I am looking to trade for this truck and would like to know if the engine rebuild and tranny swap sounds right? $4500 about right price?

I have a 1994 Dodge 2500 single cab with 189,000 miles on it. The engine was recently rebuilt with new pistons, rods, rings, and bearings. Installed at the same time was a 1999 NV4500 5 speed transmission with a NP241 DHD transfer case. They came out of a 1999 Dodge 3500 with 55,000 miles. Less than 500 miles on the new rebuild. Has one issue and that is the transfer case shift lever assembly is from the light duty transfer case and needs to be either replaced or modified so can shift into 4L, 2H, 4H. Right now I can adjust it to shift to 4L, N, and 2H. Or 2H and 4H. Has 17 inch chrome rims with 285/70 R-17 Toyo tires. (Okay but not great.) Has Posi-Lok mechanical front shift cable. Paint is faded and because it has some performance modifications it is a smoker on acceleration. Paint clear coat is peeling on one side. Honest value around $4,500.00.

t is a 1993 12 Valve engine. I toasted it when my air cleaner fell off one day while driving home on the 20 plus mile unmaintained dirt road I have to travel to get to my place. All it took was one time and it ruined the rings in on cylinder. (Right below the air intake.) I had a industrial Cummins I had purchased from a guy that I put in that truck and was going to just use this motor for a parts motor. I had another 4 cylinder Cummins that my mechanic wanted so he traded me the truck (which didn't have an engine or tranny in it because they had been removed to do a Ford conversion.) I had a spare tranny and transfer case and the mechanic said he could rebuild the old motor because the cylinder itself had suffered no damage. So he put new pistions, rings, rods, and main bearings in it. When the engine was pulled from the 93 it had about 500 HP and roughly 1000 lb feet of torque. It had marine injectors in it and the pump was turned up. Along with the 24 valve turbo it was a screamer. Anyway this truck still has the injectors, the 24 valve turbo, but the pump is a stock pump. Haven't dyno'ed it but it is very fast. It isn't broken in yet so I don't really put my foot in it. It doesn't seem to have as much low end power as it used to have but at 1,500 RPM you had better hold on to your seat.

Maybe it is just me, but what is your question?

Are you trading the 93 for the 94?

I am trading a blazer for this truck and my question is does the tranny/transfer case swap look right and does the way he rebuilt the motor look right.

If I resold this truck would the different tranny and transfer case be a plus or minus to the value?

Just what he emailed me but I assume he mentions the 93 as that is where the motor came from that he rebuilt.

93 is a VE pump, any Cummins guy would immediately question it.

I personally would keep looking, price isn't terrible, but I don't like parted together trucks.

Might not be a problem, he hasn't responded to my emails for a week, might have been a stroke.
