I was reading through some old posts and used Bills advice of picking up that vac gauge.

First I pulled and tested the cruise line - held vac no problem, then it was the line going to the pump itself - would not hold - O.K. - my vac pump is screwed up, but lets check the other lines anyway.

HVAC - All good there!

And the 4WD line checked out.

So I pulled the line to the Vac pump and tested it, found that a nipple I put on there was dry rotted!

Problem solved!

That vac gauge is one of the best tools I've bought in a while.

Theres another port on that vacuum motor? Wonder if thats something different on the 97.
My leaks have usually been at the brake booster or underneath at the CAD vacuum couplings.

 

No, I had a T fitting I used cause I couldn't find anything else.
