4 wheel drive
4 wheel drive
Is the way the 4 wheel drive engages in a '94 5 speed the same as in a '98 automatic. The 4x4 in my Dad's '94 works flawless but the '98 has been intermittent and finally quit working at all.
They should be the same. Climb under the 98 and look to see if the metal lines have rusted or the rubber lines are shot. They also connect to the firewall just to the drivers side of the truck. You can trace these.
In my 96 the vacuum motor had a hole in it. I ended up installing a Posi-Lok cable. Heres a couple websites.

I would say there is something wrong on the vacuum system. If it was intermittently working and then totally stopped I would say the vacuum pump was going bad and finally just went.
Hope this helps
