can the two trucks in my sig run red grade diesel ? what is red, and pros and cons?

NO
Red is a no tax fuel. Off road only.
Other wise it would work fine.

 

You could run it but if you get caught there is a very big fine for doing it. The difference is that the red diesel is for off road use like tractors and there is not raod tax on it. I have run red when I ran out because it was handy but make sure you change your filter if you do have to run some red fuel.

 

so only dif is they don't add tax? otherwise its just as good as red? was thinkin not as refined as much as green

 

The fuel will not hurt the vehicles but understand clearly that the fines and ensuing audits from your state and the IRS, if you get caught, can easily exceed $10,000.00. You do what you want but I'm not willing to risk getting caught.

 

10-4 prices aren't that bad yet and 10k will get me plenty of grren stuff

 

That's for sure! Most states notify the feds if you get caught with red fuel and that means audit time. If you don't own any heavy or farm equipment most folks can't justify buying even 1 gallon of red fuel. It's not worth it IMO.

 

As they say above. Any indication that you have run red-dyed in your road-going outfit is quite expensive.

 

find the post i just made on the truth of off road...lotts good readin and mostly the above is wrong. it is illegal on highway though but its identical to reg diesel except for the dye and the taxes

try that one. just alotta myths and fairy tales out there. dont get caught up in alot of stuff never happened. read the facts and youll see there are lots of links and sites to go to to find out the truth...not he said she said stuff

 

I read the information you posted and, except for the claim of $10,000 penalties and the state notifying the IRS, it seems to back up the basic claim that running red-dyed on the highway can be expensive. The only case I have first hand knowledge of involved a cousin. He was checked and ended up paying a $1500.00 fine. To some it might be just pocket change, but to me, that's expensive. It might be, also, that some states nick you a little harder than others for running red-dyed. Dunno, but maybe.

 

Although I don't advocate cheating by running red fuel look at the facts.
Most states have given up on enforcement for pickups and passenger cars, it costs them more than it's worth. They're smart and direct enforcement towards commercial, big rigs and suppliers who cheat. Most of the tales you hear about diesel PU owners getting busted are years old.
