Dana 70 hub nut keyway?
Dana 70 hub nut keyway?
I have a '96 2500, CTD, Auto, 3.55 gears and what I believe is a Dana 70(The option codes are no longer under the hood from a previous wreck and hood replacement.) I have a hub seal leaking, and after removing the axle I am trying to remove the hub nut, but it has what looks to be a keyway made of thin metal preventing the removal of the nut.
How do I remove this?
I have tried removing it by pulling with pliers and cannot get it to budge. I don't want to try and remove the nut and mess up the nut or threads on the housing.

The lock wedge pulls out with just pliers but is usually not reusable. A pair of them from the autoparts costs about a buck. If they can't run down the number according your Dodge specs the same lock wedge is also used on Fords.
