Cranking S L O W!

As the title says I am having troubles with the truck cranking over slow. I had a bad battery and replaced that the other day and have also taken the starter off to look at the contacts. One is burned pretty good and the other looked almost brand new. Have some new contacts on the way. I'm just wondering if there is anything else that might be wrong?

When the truck cranks it almost sounds like a gasser that the timing is too far advanced on. Once it starts though it runs fine.

One other thing. I replaced the starter when I first bought the truck (8 years ago) before I found this site. The replacement looks like it has one of the "super" connectors and one that looks stock? Is that normal?

TIA.

Slow cranking can either be caused by a bad starter system or too big of a load on it. You are replacing your contacts which is a good start. While the starter is off, take a look at the brushes too. Then, go through all of your battery cables and make sure that they are not too corroded. You mentioned that you replaced one battery. You should always replace them together since a weak battery will put more load on a good battery and wear that out quickly too.

The other possibility is that you somehow are putting a load on it. This can be caused in really cold weather from the increased viscosity of the oil. Also, this can be caused if your clutch doesn't fully release but you probably couldn't shift then anyways.

I would start with cleaning up all of your connections and looking at your brushes.
