Converter issues?

Guy's I think I might have a bit of a problem with my trans? It seems like it is shifting fine but when it shifts into third lockup it will shudder when I am going slow? Should it even be shifting into third and locking up at 25 mph or so? It seems like it shouldn't even be shifting into lockup until I'm going faster??

That's actually one of the common problems with these trucks; the PCM tells the TCC to lock-up too soon. Just research how to install a lock up switch and your problems should be solved, though you will have to manually switch it in and out...

Kinda sounds like what was happening to me, I am in the process of changing out the TCC-O/D solenoid, I will let you know if it helps.

I don't know if changing the soilinoid would help?It seems somthing is locking up the converter when it shouldn't?The tps seems fine in OD?What else could be causing the converter to lock up early? Some times it locks up when I'm moving very slow the shudder is so bad that if I don't switch to Od It seems somthing will break or I will just stall??

Same problem

I have a very similar problem, but in overdrive. I've heard possibly the PCM or TPS is bad.

Ok Guy's I think I know whats going on thanks to Dave Goerand! I was told there is a TSB out for 95 Dodge Diesel Trucks and the number is 21-04-95 it is for poor engine performance and or vibrations in the drive train,he said what needs to be done is the computer (I believe the VSS) will need to be reflashed for a higher speed. He told me to check to see if the Vss had the number 56028335 0r 56028336. He said If I have one of these numbers a reflash is possible by the Dealer for a price of course,or I could just do what Ckt said and through in a lock up switch. After having thatr conversation with him and talking about a couple of other things my trans does I have purchased a new tripple lock converter,valve body and acouple of other parts to go along for good messure,can't wait to get them in now! So guy's If you want some good service and from what I here great parts Talk to Dave I believe youn can't go wrong.....

I have to go out tomorow and check the numbers and with any luck I will have the right number computer and then I will call the ******* and get a price to do it....

Mine is a 94, numbers arent the same, but going to the dealer for recall work, see what they say, good luck

I checked it today and mine has the first number that Dave told me to look for. I will be calling the ******* on Monday to see how much it will cost for a reflash?? This I hope will put an end to my early lockup problems???
