Clutch Questions

I have a 95 3500 5 speed with Pensacola Diesel stage one injectors, #5 throttle plate, 191 dvs and five inch exhaust. Timing is at 15 degrees. My stock clutch has started slipping. I was wondering what would be a good clutch without breaking the bank? Do I need to change flywheels and go to a bigger clutch, or can I just put a better clutch in with my flywheel? Thanks in advance for any input...............................

Also, can you guys give me a ballpark guess as to how much horsepower/torque I should have with this setup?

Well everyone here will say spend the extra doe and go with SB, but I never liked doing what everyone on else does so I did Valair, spent about $500 for a clutch rated for 500hp. It was the 13" upgrade for the nv4500 came with everything needed, new flywheel, new disc, spacer for the starter, and pressure plate also of course all the bolts needed for it. Fit perfect and is holding great, didn't realize the I had all the programmers turned all the way up (forgot I was trying to explode the old one since I had the new one sitting at home) passed a guy when I was doing a test drive took everything I gave it. Had to turn it all down when I realized it, have to break it in for 500 miles.

Do what you would like but I'm a cheap "butt" that's why most of my mod shopping is done on E-bay. Do a search on e-bay for valair and compare it to the other brands. Then do what your wallet will allow.

Hey Barry just noticed, go under "user cp" at top left and fill out your sig then everyone will be able to see what you run and what mod's you have also.

Stock clutch

holds about 315 rwhp max, i killed mine at 347 rwhp and that was with two runs at it.... So if your clutch is slipping its safe to say that you are in the 280-320 range, all variables depend also on the mileage of the clutch and the settings on ur plate, afc..etc etc etc...

PS... Night rider is a very very wise person!

Thanks Rick, just trying to help out a fellow Cummin's lover! lol Save some money on the clutch but show the wife a more expensive one and you could get some more mod's for your truck out of the deal also!
