Clutch/pilot bearing issues
Clutch/pilot bearing issues
Can anyone tell me if the pilot bearing or bushing on a 95 is in the end of the crank or the flywheel?. It had clutch #3 put in it 30K ago and now have developed this: If driven on a lenghty trip then parked for several days it is near impossible to get into gear after startup. The worst case was I had to put it in gear, push in the clutch then when I cranked it over the truck lunged forward about a foot, broke loose then it was back to normal. After this particular trip it developed a decent trans oil leak also from the front seal Im assuming(not engine oil) I was thinking the disc was gluing itself to the pressure plate or flywheel, but some 2K later it still dosent slip from oil contamination. Im thinking the Pilot seized to the trans input shaft and is now destroyed either the crank end or the flywheel. Sound possible?
On a 98 12 valve its in the flywheel. I'm assuming its that way on all of them. Probably seized and spit out all the rollers in the pilot bearing. Its a small needle bearing about 1/4" in diameter larger than the input shaft. Probably messed up the tip of the input as well.
Whew, hope you right regarding the flywheel on my all of em. I gonna bite the bullet eventually and buy a complete trans from standard trans with the fully splined 5th shaft and a GOOD clutch and be done with it.
