does anyone have pics of pilot bearing/throwout bearing?
I'm taking the tranny out today and have no idea what the pilot bearing or throwout bearing looks like. I know I need to check/replace these, so any pics and or descriptions of where to find them would help a lot. Sorry for such a rookie question but although I done quite a bit of work on the old girl myself(thanks to you guys on this site!), this is my first time working on the nv4500/clutch. Thanks in advance.

It will be a needle bearing assembly. It should still have all the needles, and some kind of grease I'd imagine. Service manual doesn't say anything about lubricants on it. Mine was missing about half of them, and was nice and rusty looking. Replacing would be easy to do while you're in there, if you can get the right tools to do it.
Are you replacing the clutch while you're there? I know you can get some beefier roller bearing pilots when you get a new flywheel from southbend, or you could get your flywheel machined to accept the bigger bearing.
