Cleaning the TPS
Cleaning the TPS
My TPS is acting up and I want to try cleaning it first before replacing it.
I know I read somewhere about drilling a hole then spraying contact cleaner into it with a nozzle straw.
Details?
Thanks!

I know there is a old thread out there on how to do it but..when I looked for it I couldn't find it and just went at it.
Dont do what I did and drill into it in the wrong place
or your cleaning will turn into a replacement
I will post the link if I can find it.

Unless you have lots of time on your hands forget cleaning it.
My experience on several cleaning attempts on different rigs has been it's a very short lived fix and not worth the time.
TPS failure most often stems from the area of the windings where the owner cruises the most at wearing out. Something no amount of cleaning will fix.

You can find the cleaning link in the common prodlems and how to articals post at the top of the list under 12V engine and drivetrain. I cleaned mine about 2 months ago, and it'sworked fine since. Also my local NAPA sells new ones for about $200.
