CEL code: 37

CEL code: 37
Hey guys can't go over 55 and get into 4/OD in my 94 12v. I get code 37 when I cycle keys on/off three times. How do I fix it? Abs light is on, and break lights/signal lights don't work. Can't seem to figure it out myself. Installed a tps delete and seemed to do nothing about shifting into 4/OD. Any help is much appreciated.

I looked your MIL code up on my AllDataDIY subscrciption. I have a '96 - assuming the code has the same meaning on my '96 as your '94, MIL code 37 translates to several possibilities:
P1899 (Scan tool code): P/N Switch stuck in Park or in gear
P0740: Torq Conv Clu, no RPM drop at lockup
P0743: Torque Converter clutch solenoid/trans relay ckt
P0713 Trans Temp sensor voltage too high
P0712 Trans Temp sensor voltage too low
P0711 Trans Temp sensor, no temp rise after start
Since there are 6 possibilities, you likely need a scan tool to get the actual "P" code. If you can get the "P" code (try one of the chain auto parts stores that claims they can help diagnose your CEL/MIL), you can download a factory service manual here and troubleshoot

I can't guarantee its not something else, but given the MIL code you're seeing - those are the most likely as they are the scan tool codes linked to the MIL code. If you downloaded the FSM from the link I sent, you can verify those P codes vs the 37 MIL code and see if AllData got it right. It would be best if you take it somewhere and get the trouble code(s) retrieved with a scan tool so you know what the actual P code(s) is/are. That will narrow it down.
You didn't mention your trans temp light is on. I don't see any vehicle/mods info in your signature block - do you have a trans temp gauge? Is that where you're getting the 150 temp ceiling?
Did you download the FSM from the link in my last post? If you have a trans temp gauge that shows your trans temp at or below 150 (a not-excessive temperature in moderate air temperatures), check the FSM and see if a P0712 condition (low temp sensor voltage) will turn on the trans temp light. Given the temperature ceiling you mentioned, my first thought is that the wire for the trans temp sensor may be broken, which might trigger a P0712 code. Take a look at the wiring at the external case connector and see if all the wires are intact. If you don't see anything, I highly suggest you take it to Autozone or someplace where they can put a scan tool on it and retrieve the P trouble code(s). Or buy a relatively inexpensive scan tool (it doesn't have to have bidirectional control) and you will start learning more about the diagnostic end (see the discussion with another member about scan tools).
Was any work been done right before this issue appeared? Especially any work near that connector or that required removing the trans pan?
