Can oil pan leak contaminate clutch?
Pulled trans and looked at clutch, because it was making noise and slipping. It had broken springs in clutch disc. Manufacturer warrantied it, but said to get oil leak fixed. Mechanic thought rear main looked good. The pan does leak, have to keep tightening the bolts. Can it seep in to the clutch?
What about the #6 valve cover gasket? Could it leak into the clutch?
Need to get it this solved before we put new clutch in.

As far as I can tell, oil pan leak can not contaminate the clutch. It would blow up against the engine adapter plate, but thats as far as it would go. Same goes for a valve cover leak.

If you overtighten the pan bolts it will warp the pan and never seal right.
Tightening more is only making it leak more.
Need to use a torque wrench.
Only solution now is to remove the pan and try to pound the warps out or replace the pan.
Thanks Infidel. What I meant to say was that the pan bolts eventually loosen and I snug them up every so often. If that is wrong, Ill pull the pan and check for warps. Should I use premade gasket? Silicone? Both?
The pan will come out with out moving/pulling motor...right?
(trans is out).
Will a leaky rear main be apparent to me if I pull the flywheel?
What do you torq pan bolts to?
Thanks

If you have the tranny and engine adapter out, you should be able to pull the pan. You will have to drop it down an inch and then remove the oil pickup tube as well (4 bolts). If your rear main is leaking, you will see that it is wet around it. If its dry, its still good. I'd just tighten the bolts till they are reasonably tight. They are only 8mm, so you don't need to crank on them.
