Can an oil leak cause a slipping clutch?
having consistent slipping in my clutch. Only 40,000 miles on a 13" upgraded clutch from Valair. But it is 7 years old...
I know that the mods I have made have me close to the advertized limit on HP/TRQ that this clutch is rated for, so that may be an issue.
The factory clutch lasted until 250,000 miles!! So I now it is not the way I drive that wore this clutch out early.
I usually run without a trailer. but when I am pulling one it is usually just a single-axle utility trailer.
The truck has 290,XXX miles on it, and as can be expected is coated in oil underneath. I am wondering, is there anything that can leak and allow oil to get on the clutch? (rear main seal,,??)
Thanks for any and all replies

Rear main can cause a slipping clutch. Are you confident it is leaking? Clean up the bottom and see what you find. My 08 did the very thing. When we took it apart, disk was glazed and had oil residue in the housing.
