Bucking surging TSB 18-29-97
Bucking surging TSB 18-29-97
I have a 1998 12v 5spd and am getting sick of the sensitive pedal when I'm going through the ruff stuff. I looked up this TSB and thats the one but you can't get the parts anymore to fix this, has anyone else had the same problems ? What did you do to fix it?
Re:Bucking surging TSB 18-29-97
There is a kit the dealer has to fix the problem with trottle linkage. Mine was fixed due to an actual recall per looking up the VIN with the Dodge service guys. So, check with your service center guys because the part guys are clueless.
Mine is still sensitive but I can live with it. Better shocks also helps to take the bounce out of the ride. Hope this helps. Srigs

NOTSTK,
There are several dealers accross the US that show that part in stock. Several have 800 #'s. If you want I can send the numbers and the names to you and you can call them.
Let me know.

Re:Bucking surging TSB 18-29-97
I,ve had the same prob. with my truck and the prob. got worse with added HP.
The fix is very simple and costs about a buck.
Go to your favorite parts store and get a generic set of carb return springs.
Then add 1 or 2 [ whatever suits your foot ] to your factory return springs.
You may have to play with it until you get it to your likeing.
I,ve done several like this and they have had no probs. with this fix.
The added tension will allow you hold the pedal still.
Also in real bad situations you can press the side of your right foot against the center hump and have better control.
As stated earlier in this thread there is a recall on some trucks for linkags probs. but it won't fix your prob.
Have the dealer do the recall first or they will throw away your generic springs when they do the recall as they did to a buddy of mine. :'(
I got to fix his twice. ;D
