Does anyone know if, on a 12 valve, you can use a borescope to see if the pin has moved? I read on here on another post that you could through the hole where the IP goes, but how about the oil fill neck? It sure would be nice to take a peek before tearing things down.

 

I dont believe so. Too many gears in the way.

 

Over the years many people have tried with no success, too much in the way.
You probably could make it work by drilling a hole in the front cover right on top of the pin then plugging the hole with RTV and a self tapping screw after you're done.

 

If u are not sure about your KDP go ahead and tear it down and check.
Mine fell out at 280k I thought it was fine. Cost $ and time. I even had the kit months before.

 

If I can't check it any other way, then I will. But, if it is still in place, and I could check it periodically, then why tear everything apart?
