boost too easy?

I know this is going to sound like a dumb question.....
I seem to be able to hit the max boost of 24 lbs real easy, not even loaded with my Camper. I can't hit it in 2nd, difficult in 3Rd, but max rpm's in 4th and even easier in 5th no problem. It makes me wonder what I could achieve if not for the waste gate doing its thing! My EGT will be installed soon. I am wondering if I am pegging the EGT's too? The truck has 160,000 miles. If I'm being too cautious let me know. If not, WOW!!
My next mod is the #11 plate and maybe a 4" exhaust. I value you-all's opinion. Its amazing, the local shop told me that advancing the timing to 15-16* was bad and a fuel plate was the devil's spawn! I think they're full of themselves. Do you all run into the same crap?

TJ

Re:boost too easy?

Just talked to a "reputable" well-thought-of pump shop close by and they said the same thing - no need to change timing and a plate will break things. Said he could go through the pump to make more HP and would only charge me 2.5 hours. Guy has been doing pumps for years - thinks anyone that hasn't is screwing up. I told him I was thinking of bumping up to 16 degrees and adding a cam plate and he told me I was going to break stuff.

Maybe I should introduce him to Rammin On or John P - but it might disillusion the old fart.
