bluish smoke

so my truck is smoking bluish white smoke. im not sure if it is bad injectors or something else. It will smoke at idle then i will drive it and it will stop smoking but when i park it it will start to smoke again after a little while. Just wondering if anybody had an idea? Thanks.

Blue usually means oil is burning. Could be valve seals, leaking turbo, or worn rings. How many miles you have on that thing? Check your blowby tube at idle, it should have a small flow of air but not screaming out of it, while youre down there see if you are puking oil from the tube. Residue is normal on the underside of the truck.

it does leak oil a little bit like a half dollar size every night so it might be coming from that tube.

Have you adjusted timing? Some late timing will cause the bluish smoke you are observing. This is due to incomplete burn of the fuel and with the symptom of it coming back after it idles, that would be my guess. Also the overflow valve may be weak allowing lower fuel pressure in the pump, which will do the same thing and retard timing.

Timing isn't a shadetree job for sure. You need specialty tools and know what you are doing to have it done properly. I just say that because its something that slowly wears away over time and makes a big difference.

Here is some information on the Overflow valve and testing..
