black smoke is simply unburnt fuel. to get it youll need to do some sort of modification to your fuel system.

since i dont have a 12 valve i wont tryn give u advice on that but im sure some of the other "undervalved " guys will give you some ideas

Injectors, fuel plate, Afc adjustment, Waste gate adjustment and or boost elbow. Install the previous and you will have PLENTY of smoke to fill those stacks . Or you could just slide your stock fuel plate, adjust your starwheel and plug your wastegate for a free 50hp and some very decent black smoke .

Suggest you not move the fuel plate and go with larger injectors unless you have a pyro gauge. These items can produce a lot more heat.

Back off the spring tension in your afc. This will allow the fueling to come on before the boost builds. In stock form, the fueling is delayed until the boost builds up to provide needed air for a clean burn. This is commonly referred to as "turbo lag". Reducing the the afc tension will give greater fueling as you depress the throttle and greatly improve throttle response. This in turn will cause black smoke until the turbo boost catches up. After the boost catches up you are again at stock fueling if you are now stock. It (smoke) will be similar to what you see with the big trucks.

Locate the afc, screw out the large allen head plug/cap and move top of star wheel towards the engine. Replace plug and test drive. Stop the adjusting if you take it to the point of no spring tension. Go to www.tstproducts.com and read their instructions relating to fuel plate installation. I believe the afc is addressed and also has pictures.

Come on down and we'll work on that Baby.

We'll put a #10 Plate, 370's, crank the timing to 15.5*, put a clutch, gauges, Maybe Laser Cut DV's, and you'll be shootin' some small puffs of smoke

Kinda like this..

Or This...

Just depends on where your #10 plate is set, and if you go with DV's or not
