Best power combo for towing?

I've finally got my 98 12V 4x4 auto sold. The guy buying it wants to go ahead and drop some money on parts to help wake the truck up for towing. It already has a TC and VB upgrade. What size inj. would work and wheres a good place to get them? What about delivery valves, not sure what pump is on the truck so I don't know about upgrading them. What fuel plate? What timing to set it at.Is a 3K govenor spring worth doing? He doesn't want to mess with the turbo so can someone please tell me what parts will work best together to achieve the desired results. TIA

i think its got a 180 pump on it. i would go with a #10 plate slid foreward a little bit. timing at 15* and some ddp2's for sticks. as far as the plate you can do a search on profiles here and grind the stock one to whatever you want. I usuall use puredieselpower.com for my performance parts.
hope that helps

What size delivery valves are in a 180 pump?Is there a cheaper alternative to DDP or the other big names?

Can't get too aggressive with the fuel unless you want to change out your turbo as well. I can get mine plenty hot with just the mods in my signature. Plus, I'm at 16 degrees on my timing.

My 97 had: turned up pump, timing, stage 2 diesel dynamics injectors, #10 cam plate, afe complete intake, 4" stright pipes, Gear Vevdor over/under drive, 4:10 gears, 285 tires. It had a bit of turbo lag but ran and pulled very well. I bought a 2006 to replace it. That was the stupidest thing. The 1997 blew the door off my 2006 and got twice the milage when towing. I was 26k total weight, truck and loaded tralor. I promptly sold the 2006 after two long trips. 12 valves all the way.

Hope this helps, Phil

Alright fella's.The truck is sold.Just left the house an hour ago.The new owner wants to limit the injectors price tag at $300.Are the pensacola stage1's worth a darn?I hear they are 4 hole and will be smokey and can't find any good or bad info on towing with them.Would we be better off getting a factory Bosch 215.Give me some input please,I need to get something coming.
