best towing combo
best towing combo
lets hear it
what do YOU think is the ultimate set up for towing heavy? (20k#+ combined)
which injectors plate and turbo?
all the other stuff is a given (studs, clutch, bhaf, ex sys, fuel sys, brake, h2o inj, high gear update, splitter, etc)
talking about starting off with a 215 pump truck. nv4500. 3.55 d80
curious what you guys think is the ultimate set up
which injectors, plate and turbo would work the best together at this weight?
thanks
don

ps - current set up is
ddp stg III
#10
62/65-13 s.s.
works really good
just wondering if there is something better?
guess part of the equation would be how hard one would want to work it (max cruising speed)?

Timing around 18 degrees, 100 plate and a good set of towing twins, more usable power than the cooling system can cool but the exhaust temp will be right. I'm a firm believer in small twins for towing. 4000 rpm governor springs are one of the best performance mods on a twelve valve.
I really like the he351 over the 3b I have. I'm kinda leaning towards putting together a he341 over something in the 71 mm range for the big turbo. I think it would light real quick and support 400 horse good. I've pulled trailers with a stock turbo, 35-40 and a hx 40. The 35-40 in the low 300's ain't bad, the 40 stunk, by the time it spooled it couldn't cool the temps back down. The stock over a 3b wasn't bad, it would supply enough air the cooling system wouldn't keep up. I never towed heavy with the b1-b1 I had but light towing it seemed to need a lot of fuel to get it to spool up.
If you stay at 400 or less a good single would probably work I just like the way twins work.

but alot of guys like to run a stock turbo on top (HX35) and an HT3B turbo under it, suppose to do well up to 500hp for towing.
