stock are fine for towing. depends if you want to tow and maybe beat on it a little too.

With the auto you could probably go to a set of 5x12s and a 62/65/12.

Those 2 items if you shop around should set you back $1600-700 new if you get aftermarket injectors. If you want Bosch injectors PM me

Im gonna do a manual swap sometime as well. But I want a powerful tow rig not super fast but the best of both worlds.

if a manual is going in, then another nice turbo option is the s360/68. The 60mm wheel flows nice and the turbine side is much better than an he351 if you don't mind spending the extra money. An he351 is also a good turbo for a first gen, and much cheaper.

Either turbo should spool really well in a manual, and keep the egts reasonable with 5x12s. I'm not sure how a manual spools with an s362. You'd have to ask someone that has run one on a stick.

Yup, I run 351cw and stock IC sticks and it tows great. This is the cheap setup but if wanting more you can go with a better single or compounds.

My setup: 40psi, pump turned up, pin, gov spring, dual disc clutch. I pull a 8800-9000# camper and have my pump set for 1250EGT max. up our steepest incline nearby in 4th with my foot to the floor. I can accelerate up the incline nicely with camper in tow.

Saying that, i am going compounds this winter, not really necessary but more so for the wow factor.

With my setup in my signature, I can pull and not even come close to 1300 degrees. I'm hitting 28psi max boost and the amount of smoke from the exhaust is low enough to deal with. I'm happy with it and it feels simular to my old 2006 Dodge, power wise. If I could upgrade anything else, it would be the intercooler and tubes, I'm sure I'm loosing airflow there.

Good Luck
Mike

I pull with the setup in my signature. Had the turbo for a while before i did injectors. It didn't like to spool very quick and would get high egts. Now with the new pump and injectors it spools better and egts don't get as high but it is smokey down low in 3rd and 4th.

I found I get the best results egt wise by just beating the ears of it and accelerating up hills in 4th. If I try to hold speed my turbo won't come all the way up and egts will climb climb climb.
