Any difference in 12/24 valve harmonic balancers 89-02?

The balancer on my 96 needs replacement, is there any difference in the balancers over the years? As a side note, any aftermarket replacements besides fluidampr? Thanks

Possibly the only difference is the 12 valve damper has two notches 180 degrees from each other to trigger the tach sensor. The 98.5 later (24 valve) is the same damper just without the notches. This is just a guess!

That's correct, tach won't work on a 12v using a 24v balancer.
