don't rule out a leak, try folding up dry newspapers and zip tie them up under your radiator shaped like a gutter.

go for a ride, then check to see if there still dry.

No leaks on anything, once warmed up in the shade I can see no smoke, I will try it in the sun and see if I can see any today.

My thermostat housing was leaking due to the stat rubber gasket being cracked. No drips, but I could smell antifreeze.

I checked my level last week..there was about 1" of air between the top of the fluid and the top of the rad. core. I topped it off, went to advance auto, and it was leaking out all over the place when I parked.. appeared to be coming from the left side of the rad, but I couldn't pinpoint the source.

Once the level returned to where it was, the leak stopped. The top of the rad doesn't leak, or I'd be able to see it. Maybe the air keeps the pressure in the cooling system down enough to where it doesn't pressurize, and the hole is that small?

Mine was doing the same thing, finaly went to autozone and borrowed a preassure tester through the loan a toll program and checked it out. After looking all over a few times finaly found it, the lower hose was just seeping at the connection to the motor. The guage only dropped about 1 psi in 20 minutes. Hope this helps!

antifreeze loss

Yes mine has been loosing coolant since new. At around 20,000 km's the coolant conservator tank was empty and the rad was low. Since then I have lost quite a bit. I bought dye from cumins because doge dealer didn't have the dye. Dumped it in the rad after forcing some out in the tank. It didn't showup as an external leak. So it is going out the exhaust pipe. This has corroded the pipe and needs to be replaced now or months ago. It is worse when I go hunting when the engine isn't being plugged in. It is a 53 block.

Get a coolant pressure tester from autozone or equivalent.

pump it up to 15 psi and see if it leaks off. If it's leaking you can usually hear or see the leak.

My first engine had the same problem. I was adding about 1 gal every 2 weeks or so. Never found antifreeze in the oil, never smelled it, never knew where it was going. One day while driving, i heard a lound bang, then loud grinding. That was my middle bearing gone bad. Instant lose of power and she came to a sop and never moved until the tow truck came. Come to find out, the anitfreeze was leaking into the oil, but me and several mechanics never knew where it was going. So needless to say the blown headgasket cost me $9000 to fix and 1 month to get a new motor. If i were you Id fix the headgasket and save yourself $9000.
