oil is disappearing

My 1998 12valve has oils in the coolant overflow container and their is sandy gritty oild all over the front axle and powersteering pump and steering box. I cannot see a crack in the front timing case i do not believe it to be kdp. I am at loss to what this is. It leaks about a 2inch drop every day and thats it. I am using like 2 gallons every 3 weeks what is going on?

Blown headgasket is my guess.

If the KDP went it will be cracked under the bracket that holds the fan hub.

Oil in the coolant is usually a head gasket. But you are consuming vast quantites of oil-3 quarts a week is a lot. I would clean everything off and look for cracks too. If you have not fixed the KDP it seems like a good time to do so.

You should not have any oil in the coolant, 2 possibilities, oil cooler or head gasket.

The sand/grit is probably from dirt that gets stuck to it later. Many places it could come from, front cover loose? Vacuum pump/power steering pump joint? Get some engine brite and clean it off so you can try to see where its leaking from.

Have you done the KDP yet, this might be a good time to do it or have it done. 2 gallons in 3 weeks is alot of oil. You need to find the leak and fix it, we have trucks that won't use any oil in 7000 miles.

Ok so cleaned out all the coolant not oil but dirt and small pebbles really weird. I filled it back up with freesh coolant and water. I then degreased the drivers side of the engine which is were a majority of the oil is built up. no crack in the timing case so its not the KDP. It seems to be around the powersteering pump or the oil fill tube possibly?

Sounds like a leaky vacuum pump.
