Antifreeze keeps disappearing??
Antifreeze keeps disappearing??
OK,
About every second day I have to add a pint or so of antifreeze, I can't find it on the ground, I can't find it under the rug
I can't find it on the block
I can't find it in the oil.
Any idea's, I am guessing the head gasket, but I do not want to pull the head until I am sure, any good way to check this sucker out?
Thanks for the suggestions!! Beforehand!

Mine had a coolant leak about a year or so ago.
I looked everywhere and couldn't find it.
Eventually it stopped leaking and it wasn't until I later pulled the exhaust
manifold to put an HTT on that I found the leak.
One of the freeze plugs had a pin hole that I didn't notice.
Just something to look for.

1. white/blue smoke=normal at startup and below 10 degrees out.

3.black smoke=rich fuel air mixture, engine under labor, usually when rpm's cannot meet desired rpm's from injection pump linkage position.
4.white smoke=unburned fuel, usually timing or fuel delivery, sometimes may be vapor from bad head gasket, cracked or warped head or cavitation erosion.
you really have to look close to tell if the white smoke is fuel or vapor. fuel will hang around when vapor will quickly disapear.

Check upper d/s rear of radiator at seam
I had the same problem - radiator was oozing at seam of tank. Not enough to get to ground at first but eventually go that bad. Pulled the radiator and crack ran about half way down edge from top. Radiator guy at Sapp's in Garner told me he sees alot of these in exact same place on gassers and diesels. No repair for the crack as it is metal crimped over plastic tank.
PS - we need to get together to check the timing.

I have lots of black too, but I know why
the vapor would be all the time. like a dryer vent in your house. it looks like smoke on a cold day but quickly disappears.
don't rule out a leak, try folding up dry newspapers and zip tie them up under your radiator shaped like a gutter.
go for a ride, then check to see if there still dry.

why not just pressure check the cooling system???
