Angry Another lift pump in a year with low miles driven!!! Argh!

Second Carter lift pump in a year!!! I already modified the banjo bolt at the injector pump and inserted a snubber valve, gauge is on the way. Let me go over the tests to see if I am going about it properly cause I am sick of not knowing when this is coming. Caught me about 220 miles out this time....I was able to limp home but I had to keep going to neutral and blowing through lights, it was late at night thankfully. I don't recommend this tactic at all!

Look at gauge while idling (17-22 psi) and at 2,500 RPM (25-35 psi)(checks pump/filter/screen)

If psi is low at both RPMs, pinch return line. If pressure goes to normal range, overflow valve needs replaced, otherwise clean screen, replace filter and retest. If still low, verify no fuel line leaks and probably replace pump.

Only five things at play? Fuel line leaks, screen clogged, filter dirty, overflow valve bad, pump bad.

Am I on the right track here?

Please move this topic if i have misposted. Thanks!!

So this is the piston style OEM lift pump on the 12V?? Sounds like you have the troubleshooting steps hammered out. I would also be concerned with the pump draw source. The tank leads may be letting air in as well or the hard lines are starting to rot through.
