Allison auto
the stock tranny is fine if you do a few things to improve it.. a shift kit and low stall converter go a long way in these trannys.. just the shift kit alone makes a major improvement.. these trannys slip way too much stock causing a ton of heat..
The aisin (MY600) in the new Dodges is an excellent trans i worked on them when i was with Fuso trucks. granted they were only behind a 4cyl in those trucks they did very well. that trans was developed exclusively for Fuso in 2002 i think and fuso worked out all the kinks with aisin on that trans b4 it was released to other manufacturers. it has 2 overdrives in it.
That's how it got into the Dodge truck then, through Mitsubishi-Fuso.
I think I came across a stand-alone computer for it. I wonder how hard it would be to make it fit in a first or second-gen truck.

if you have a stand alone all youd be lookin at is makin sure bell housing fits after that its all custom brackets and mounts...driveshafts too. fuso and chrysler at this point werent associated and isuzu was also runnin the trans in the NPR NQR
No kidding there.
Mitsubishi and Daimler/Chrysler were in bed then, though. They are chasing an electrical gremlin, they say that the mechanicals are fine.
