AGAIN! Clunk from underneat the front of the truck...

AGAIN! Clunk from underneat the front of the truck...

When I turn it back and forth you can hear a clunk underneath the truck...

EVERYTHING is new...

Can swaybar bushings cause this if they are pancakes (very bad shape)?

jack the front end up, and do a couple test's to see if you can find the loose part. Theres only so many links up there that will be the problem, so you should be able to find the cause of the problem. Have someone turn the wheel while u put pressure on a tire to see if anything moves etc...

My guess is the bolt on the axle side of the track bar is a little bit loose causing it to pop a bit. Did you recently replace the track bar? If so I would start there, it's happened to more than a few on here including me!

I have seen the shaft coming out of the bottom of the steering box make that sound and move a lot with as little as 10K on a new box ( not a reman ) I have the DSS steering kit and 3rd gen track bar retrofit kit and the steering is tighter than some 3rd gens I have driven. Also check the ball joint end of the track bar at the frame they go out all the time. I just had to replace both driver side ball joints today and replaced both axle shaft u-joints, brake roters, pads and installed my Top Gun Customz 2" coil spacers. Will replace the other ball joints soon and the axle will be as good as new.

I second that, I've had the same thing happen a couple times after upgrading my track bar. Last time I got medieval on tightening it and used locktite blue, haven't had any issues since.

Check where the steering box is mounted onto the frame, it might be cracked.
Watch where you put your fingers and put your hand on the steering box then have someone rock the steering wheel back and fourth and see if you can feel it.

axel end of the trac bar. Also happened to me. That little bolt is suposed to have some large tourq put to it. like 150 170pounds maybe? i dont have my manual here at work but i remember it being a whole lot. I'm willing to bet if you lay under it and look at it with the weight of the truck on the ground and someone turns the wheel, that end of the bar will move around, or the bolt and bar will move if it wore an elongated hole in the fit.
