adjusting valve lash
adjusting valve lash
I have a 95 with 130,000 miles . I ve had the truck for two years and it runs good. Don,t know if i should get the valves adjusted. Manual says every 30000, like to hear what others are doing. thanks
sounds about right. Its been a bit longer than that since my last adjustment. I probably should get it done. maybe next spring when it warms up a bit. When I do that I will go to the heavier 60# springs. I don't see a high priority in getting it done every 300000 k. You kind of gettin that feeling. There are probably others that will gasp at this
You can do it yourself:

#5 & 6 are a little hard to get to but with a little patience it is no big deal.
Buy a set of new valve cover gaskets while you are at it.

For the cost of these engines , not doing maintance , then don't complain when you have problums, not any sooner than 30,000 and not any later than about 50,000 , I've rebuilt a lot of heads gas and some diesel becouse no valve adjustments , they get out of time with the burning and burn pie shapes out of the exhaust valves and with the diesels if they get to far out they can hit the pistons and bend a nother valve job. One of the symtems is a ruff idle hot or cold for getting out of adjustment .

Check out my gallery, I took some great pics when I did my adjustment. The only difference is that I don't have a timing pin (24 valve), instead I have timing marks that I had to align by sight.

Time to do mine.

If I were to write out the schedule it would be more like 30-40k, 100k then every 100k after that.
