The KDP was absolutely NOT fixed at the factory - whoever told you that was misinformed. You must pull the cover and tab the pin before you have an $$$ repair.

I cant find the link of the KDP carnage...does anyone have it?

As far as I know the factory did not fix them. I tabbed my 98 12 valve as soon as I heard of the problem. Mine was working it's way out of there but not too far, I am glad I did it.

Some of the early 24v engines had the same problem, 'til the they came out with an updated case with a stepped hole to prevent the problem.

Why they just didn't make it a blind hole in the first place is beyond me.

whtractor, this is also a very good time to bump your timing (up to ~16 degrees) since you will already have the timing cover off.

Sounds straight forward... But is there a link to advancing the timing while I'm in there? Thanks, Kelly
