96 Front Dana 60 Info needed Please
I found a good deal on a Dodge Dana 60 front from a 96. Can someone tell me about this Axle? I want to cut all the Brackets off and put this under my 1979 F250 but want to make sure its a good Axle. How do I engauge the Axles? A vacumme pump? Any info would be appreciated
You can get a mechanical axle lock for it instead of that vacume set up. Id measure everything first to make sure it fits. Better yet Id stick with a Ford dana 60 with the locking hubs , plus all the brake components . Save some head ackes

Just curious, I was looking at your truck pics, did you do put in the Cummins yourself? Did you have to cut the front crossmember, I read in FordCummins.com that you have too. How does that F-250 run now? I have a couple of ’79 F-250s and I’m thinking of doing the same thing.
I'm trying to find a front D60 for my Jeep right now........HARD TO FIND!!! I got the D60 rear but that front is gonna take some searching. And yes, the Ford ones are better.......but hey a D60 is a D60...unless you are planning on beating the snot out of it

If you don't mind my asking, what IS a good price for a dana 60 from under a '96?
they usually go for about $1000-1500

Thanks for the info guys.

If you do end up using the Dodge unit, I would seriously consider a axle brace for it. The 3 piece construction is not noted for its strength, especially with a heavy Cummins sitting on top of it.
