I tried putting a 1K resistor in line on the temp sending wire harness and the darn thing still won't lock. I called Oreilly's and they have a TPS for $28, I will pick this up tommorow and give that a shot, if this fails I will replace the TC solenoid. I spoke with Dave at Goerend this morning and he is very helpful. He told me to jack the truck up and have someone drive it up to speed while feeling the rubber trans cooler lines by the radiator and see if I can feel a pulse come thru on the lines. If this happens it means that the electrical system is working and there are internal trans problems,. good info to keep in mind for everyone.

That's what they tell me. I have mine off and will take it to compare, also called Advance Auto and they gave me a price of $38. Auto Zone says this part isn't required, boy I wish they were right

If that price is right buy a whole bunch of them.
You could make a good living reselling them.
Cheapest I've ever seen is $160

i heard if you go to a cummins shop or a shop that fixes medium duty trucks and give them the engine number they'll give u a much better price....but ive never tried this and dont wish to since this i dont plan on having anymore TPS problems ever again

do a thorough search on the TPS there are few adjustments procedures and things u can do to help prevent future problems...taking the wires out of the loom and other things

Got er done It was the lock up solenoid in the trans pan, had about 6 hrs of fun and a fluid bath but well worth the effort. The solonoid was only $41 with a filter and pan gasket. This truck has a firm shift for having 177K miles on it.Now on to the fuel sending unit.
