92 12 valve removing a/c?

Im taking my a/c pump off my 92 12 valve motor so i tried doing some research n some pics show a smooth belt tensioner pulley can you get away with that? If you guys have the part number for the grooved pulley id like to go that route or any other info is appreciated

A smooth pulley is used on the back side of the belt but if you look up the belt routing for a NON AC truck then get a NON AC belt you might find that no other parts are required. I used to carry a non AC belt as a spare for my 2001, never know when that compressor would bite the dust.

I didnt know if they make a ribbed pulley I was looking at it and doesnt seem like enough clearance between the belt the the aluminum part of the tensioner though

I don't believe anyone makes a ribbed pulley, doesn't seem to matter to the belt.

Here is the routing chart for both AC and non.

Ah you may be right Pat, I'm probably thinking back to the "V" belt days of a smooth idler and a "V" idler pulley.
