Question Removing The Valve Cover

I am in the process of sanding/shining my valve cover and intake and was wondering if there is anything special I need to know if I remove the valve cover. Gasket, etc., etc..

nothing special other than it is a tight fit, gasket is labled so you don't get it on upside down and really does not need to be removed

The fire wall insulation can be a problem when flakes apart and falls on to your oily valve train from trying get the cover over the valves! duck tape some plastic up over it before you pull the cover dont ask me how I know

VERY GOOD ADVICE!! that and leave the gasket on the head. Move the cover straight to the passenger side, over the hose, and bring it forward.

I never tried that method before. I always pivoted the front cover about 15-20 degrees towards the passenger side. Then rotate it off of the valves.

BTW I found out real quick about that fiberglass firewall insulation . I ended up ripping all of that crap out.

Does that have an impact on interior sound? OK I really dont care so i SHOULD ask what should I expect to change when I tear it off and trash the mess all together. Im tired of messing with it.....

I didn't notice any change in sound at all. Only bad thing is that insulation didn't come off in one clean piece, rather it came off in chunks. Don't do it with the valve cover off.
