I have a problem! Stopped at a border check station in West Tx and when I took off there was a clicking sound. By the time I had traveled 2-3 ,miles it became quite loud. It sounds like it's coming from the tranmission area. When I let up on it it stops but when I put the power in it get quite loud. It does not make a sound when I'm in 4th pulling or coasting. The only warning that I had was that morning when I shut it off it made a rattling sound just as the engine stopped. When out of gear there is a light ticking sound that stops when I push the clutch in. The clutch works fine and feels fine when I push it in. By the way I'm on vaction and pulling my 34ft 5th wheel. I made it to San Antonio and when I drive it with out the 5er it goes through the gears fine but the loud clicking is still there except when in 4th. Anyone have any ideas and know of a good shop here in San Antonio? Thanks in advance.

 

sounds like the clip ring in the back of the transfercase. easy job to fix and a 5-7dollar part. PM me and I will give you instructions/parts

Well I found the problem, after I pulled the trans. It was the starter! I should've pulled it first!
