3.07 rear gears.....

Anyone know where to get 3.07 gears for the dana 60 or 70? I think they came stock in 89-93 models.Or a good used set or complete rear end?

They're hard to come by, I know that much. Gotta ask---why? Trying to break a land speed record?

The 3.07 gears require a specific housing due to a specific offset to accomodate a larger pinion. That said, member MMiller has a matched pair of axles he is trying to trade.

We have a set in a Dana 61. We have someone that wants the body so we are parting it out anyway. Unknown total miles but it worked well for 80K while we ran it.

You will not find anything below 3.55's for a D60.....as is has already been mentioned, the D61 must be used as it's pinion bore is offset far enough from the ring gear to accept a pinion with enough teeth on it to make ratios less than 3.55 possible....ring and pinions are not interchangable between a D60 and a D61.....As far as I know, there are no provisions what so ever to run less than a 3.55 in a D70.

got them in my 90 ctd with 518 trans. 75 to 80 mph at about 1700 with the rite tire size. if towing heavy just drop it out of od and boogie. truck doesnt have a problem with 18 to 20 k gross. ps top end is scary though.

Did you mean a D60? Because the rear axles in the 1st gen trucks are D70's and many of them have the 3.08 gears.

3.07 rear end

I have a '98 2500 2wd flatbed with an Allison 545 and D70 3.55 gears. I'm running 2250 rpm at 60 mph and 35" rear tires. As you would expect the mileage is poor and noisy. It's a farm truck and luckily I don't do much highway driving.

Although, I could surely use a 3.07/08 setup. I understood from a local guy that the 3.07 setup had problems???? PM me if you have the 3.07/08 setup. rick

My father had one of the first Dodges in Dacature when they first came out , it had no over drive. He turned it into a flat bed one ton, 4x4, wench truck, It had those gears in it, never had a problem with that part of the truck, now the brakes, automatic, that is anougher story. It had a tulsa wench that worked with the transfer case. He would pull a gooseneck trailer loaded, or just about anything he wonted. Because of the high gears sometimes the low, low was used to save the crappy transmission and converter. The high gears ratio is probably the reason the output shaft in the transmission twisted in splines. What a piece of crap or that is what dad thought of the brakes and the 10 or more transmission he had installed in the truck. The 3.08 gears would be great with a low gear transmission or a great automatic like DTT or Georend. Good luck Jim

Somebody can correct me if I'm wrong but I believe it was the D70U that would accept gears below 3.55......to my knowledge, a standard D70 will not accept D70U gears......There are several different versions of a D70 and they don't all have a interchangable carriers and gears.
