Ok I never looked at that I planned on going over the fuel system anyway as I planeed on changing the fuel filter and that would be a good time to trace everything out and really evaluate the problem. I will look at this and see if this is also a problem. Thanks for the advise as Im no mechanic but I do follow good directions.

Make sure you get a pre-filter kit as well then, unless you cleaned it yourself, most people never mess with it until it bites them. It is the part right in front of the lift pump.

The shutdown solenoid has two coils, one to lift that's only energized when the starter's cranking and a hold coil to keep it up after the engine is running.
Sounds like somethings going on with your hold circuit.
Most common problem is a bad ASD relay in the underhood fuse box but could be the key switch, wiring or blown fuse #9 on the dash.
