No fuel plate-no difference

I recently took the fuel plate out and didn't notice much of a difference if any. The truck just falls on its face at wot and there's no smoke (I'm not trying to make smoke I just know there should be some without fuel plate). The pump still had its breakoff screws in it and the motor has 231k on it. The only time the truck pulls is once it gets into to O/D and then it will smoke a bit. I tried the BIC pen spring in the ofv and it seemed to help a bit but not much. It also got a new lift pump right before I bought it last spring. What else could cause this lack of power/fueling?

Its either got to be rack travel or low fuel pressure right? And if it was low fuel pressure it would run rough right? Which it doesn't, it runs fine it just stops pulling with no fuel(smoke)

Where is your AFC set. If its to the rear, you won't see much gain when removing the plate.

The spring from a 19¢ pen doesn't guarantee the correct fuel pressure.
Either install a fuel pressure gauge or a new overflow valve.
More is not better.
Too high of fuel pressure can blow out expensive to replace internal injection pump seals.

when was the last time you replaced the fuel filter? with my truck it looses a significant amount of power when the filter gets plugged up.

I changed the fuel filter twice since pulling the plate

Today I removed the afc to rule out rack travel and it made no difference, still flattened right out at about 1500 rpms with no smoke
