Finally getting around to change the fuel filter on my 96 12V.
I don't know the entire histor of truck so not sure of how old this filter is.
first time also to service this filter.

a little time consuming to get to it and then to finally spin it off.

Now that its off, I tried to remove and then to reinstall petcock off of old onto new. Coming off required two channel locks. (i didn't realize it'd be that snug).

my problem is now trying to thread this old petcock onto the new. it starts to thread then it just stops. clearly not seated all the way.

Do dodge direct car dealers have this part in stock, typically?
i tried the local NAPA store, they told me its a dealer only item.

anyone else have this problem?

I have only dealt with the cartridge style filter on my 98, but a quick search came up with a dorman 904-193 replacement. I gotta think someone local would stock it, pretty sure geno's does.
