Question Water/fuel filter service?

Hi there,

An easy question - just something I've never done before...

Got a '96 and need to change the water/fuel filter. I've drained the water @ each oil change but it's been a year since the filter was changed.

Can someone walk me through the steps?

Thanks, Mike

PS. I like the new look on this page - good job...

For good instructions click here

What they don't say- to make it much easier to change the filter on your '96 remove the two nuts that hold the master cylinder to the brake booster and pull the whole unit towards the driver's side. It doesn't look like it moves easily but it does giving you tons of room to get at the filter.
I don't agree with prefilling the filter unless you have some filtered fuel around. You're just asking for trouble.
The way I fill and bleed fuel filters is a snap if you have compressed air. Just open the filter bleed screw and use an air blow gun wrapped in rag to pressurize the fuel tank though the fill hole. Takes about 15 seconds to fill and bleed the filter. Sure beats pumping the manual primer.

Infidel, great idea on the filter priming! I'm gonna remember that one. Thanks, Kevin
