dead pedal
I have a 02 that runs great and I use the cruise control around town and on the highway at 55 mph and it doesn't go dead pedal. when I go down the freeway at 70+ mph it runs great until I shut the cruise off cruise and then it goes dead pedal. I have replaced the apps but it still does it. idk whats going on I tried cleaning the connections and it worked fine the first time I **** the cruise off, but now its back to doing the same thing. any suggestions

You should check for codes if you haven't. Have you replaced the VP44 pump? The electronics on the pump itself can cause a dead pedal. I had a speed sensor (on the rear differential) go out, but it didn't go dead pedal, only surge and fall out of cruise.

Before you automatically condemn your VP44, the link below will take you to a site with a lot of info about the VP44 and how to diagnose it.

I got the codes off the odometer and the one is p1693 which I read is just a code saying there are codes stored in one of the computers. the next code that came up is the ECU p0121 and this is the apps low voltage how do I check that do I need to get it to dead pedal before I can get and accurate reading of what the voltage is or can I do it when its running just fine

If you're getting an APPS code then more than likely its not VP related. You can buy an expensive OEM APPS or there's one available called Timbo APPS which is a lot cheaper and works just as good. You can always try resetting the APPS first but I'd generally think the code is an indication. Lastly.....do yourself a favor and MAKE SURE the batteries are both in perfect condition first and the alternator has proper output before replacing electrical components.
