My frame crossmember that the rear fuel tank strap attaches to has rotted out so the T slot no longer holds the strap . Its just the T slot thats rotted the rest of the crossmember is in good shape . Any suggestions ?

Cut a T slow in a piece of plate. Weld, bolt, or rivet it over the hole.

That cross member knee brace on the other side is the same. You could remove both braces and swap side to side.

Ask Oliver to remove a brace from one of his scrapers, and send it to you, and bolt it in.
This, of course after you send him a box of cookies for doing so

Mine did the same... so I boogered some weld in there to plug the slot. Some day I'll take out the crossmember and weld it properly.

I traded a chrome 2nd gen hub cap for a cheese steak sandwich last week, so a crossmember trade for some cookies isn't out of the question.

The shipping to BC would kill the deal though.

I like the weld, bolt or rivet on a new piece of metal with the slot cut into it idea, that J Martin mentioned, myself.

Well up here we have something called Naniamo bars ,I dont know if they would survive the heat in shipping . I'm going to zip cut the rust out and weld a new chunk in , just wanted to hear what all the 1st gen geniuses had to say .
