Brake Parts
On the way to church yesterday, my D350 started making metal to metal noises in the left front brakes. Found the front caliper hold down was broken and the caliper was cockeyed in the carrier. That's the second one in the last couple of months. (Blue did this a short time ago)
New hardware kit self bent as it went in. The little center clip is dead soft, and instead of resisting the torque from the bolt it just folds up.
The question is----- where can one buy decent parts?
I'm going to go through the whole works in a week. New pads and shoes, and new wheel bearings and seals in the back as well. I'm tired of the self destruct nylock bearing nut, so I'm going with stage-8 xlockers.
The last time I tried to buy shoes, I got some at O'reilleys and they were so obviously bad that i didn't even put them on. I welded up a set that had bad e-brake ears on them and put them in. Those are also mis-aligned at the cylinder.
Another question. What friction parts should I buy? Auto-zone has been mentioned as decent, but which one? With the PacBrake, I'm pretty easy on the brakes, even when towing the train.
Thanks in advance for your advice.

Raybestos part # 316 PG
I did some internet snooping P# 316 PG comes back from the internet you get what you pay for junk stores as bonded.
Mine are riveted.
As a boat owner I will not but bonded shoes. I need my E-Brake to work and work right

I'd love to see a caliper conversion bracket that converts from the stock
metal on metal slide type to the 80's style Gm 12" caliper they use on the gm trucks.

Dang. Off side brake shoes spit out a hold down on the left side. Has to be fixed right now. Had to cancel rear end service. Too much noise to diagnose the gears.
Guess I'll just throw in AutoZone brake shoes for now if they look halfway straight.

Carquest has a fairly new line of frictions, I think they are called TEQ . I put a set of the front pads on with turned rotors. The best the truck has stopped in the time I've owned it.

D350 brake pads have more pad area and will work on D250's in case the D250 folks didn't know that BTW.

Finally, after the brake cable bruhaha I got to putting in the autozone shoes today. Held them in the turned drums and figured out that they'd be down to the rivets in the middle before the ends saw cast iron.
So I bought a set of Bosch Ultra-stop shoes at another parts store. Threw in the left side and the parking brake tang is way short.
Is it just me, or is the whole parts scene going to he!! in a handbasket?
What do I do now. Weld on a $50 set of shoes to get by, or wait another couple of days to try something else that might work? (NAPA has no shoes other than the cheap relines in stock)
Just called NAPA. They said that even their ultra premium ($70) shoes are remans.
I guess I'll just go eat worms.
