'79 Power Wagon forum out there?
Morning,
Does anyone know if there's a forum out there geared towards the civilian Power Wagons up to 1980? I'm picking up a '79 soon and need to learn some stuff.
Thanks!

X3 on RCC being a good site for RC and Power Wagon info.
Info over there on diesels is more hit or miss.

The two mentioned are probably the best. PWA seems to have slowed down some lately though it seems but some really good people there.
Congrats on becoming a PW owner. I have a '77 and '51.

Cool, thanks for the information!
This one is a '79, still with the original slant 6 and 3 speed column shift. It's a short bed with no fancy trim at all. It's a bronze color and even has the original white wheels with dog dish hubcaps. Probably the cheapest Power Wagon you could buy that year.
It's been sitting in a guy's yard for a few years but I remember it driving around town. It has very little rust, which is surprising. The driver's side rocker panel needs replacing as does part of the driver's side floor but the right side of the truck is excellent and there is a little bubbling over the left rear wheel but it's minimal and you almost wouldn't notice it.
The owner sold the house and all the cars have to go but I got to him about the PW before anyone else did. I offered him what I thought was a price he'd turn his nose up at but instead he told me that all the cars were going for scrap otherwise, so he counter offered with half my offer.

Main thing you'll want to do is take off the front wheels and lube the bearings. Many neglect that since it's hidden. Next is check and see what fluid is in the transfer case and make sure it's not gear oil.
Sounds like a cool original. I like the stock wheels and dog dish hub caps.

I agree, 4bt in my jeep went from 11 mpg's to 20 mpg's with direct bolt in, my 383 made good power, just guzzled the fuel. is that 4 speed the original dodge? if so, how did you adapt it?
