Rain in Phoenix
The old girl got me down to Mexico for the hundredth time (I've told myself a million times to stop exaggerating ). Well she is probably going to have to get me back home today, after only 3 days here, because the airport in Phoenix got 3 inches in 2 hours and I live only 3 miles from the airport and I am afraid my pool overflowed and flooded my house. I think the power is out because I can't get a hold of any neighbors. We only average 7 inches a year, so 3 inches in a couple of hours is devastating. It is supposed to rain for the next 3 days. There is a 200" drain pipe for I-10 right down from my house and I have wondered what would happen if it ever got overloaded, well I may have my answer. Chandler has 5 1/2 inches, so far. What a storm. The joke is that I am sitting down here right next to hurricane Norbert, the cause of all this mess and it is a beautiful clear day here. Here is the local news weather...Mark

Thanks, I appreciate that. I can't get a hold of anyone to check my house, I think the power is out. I am going to wait a while to see if anyone answers, but I am preparing to go back, it will be a long 7 hours ...Mark

Thanks Oliver, I am still hoping for the best, but sitting here watching the local news isn't helping. They have showed water inside houses from within 2 miles on 2 sides of my house. I hate having this helpless feeling, but it is what it is, I can't do anything about it...Mark

Do you have flood insurance? Sounds crazy to have it there but wow. I have it but even though I live on a lake my property is so high I just can't see it happening but you never know.

Good question! I HAD it for three years, but I thought "what are the chances of a big flood in downtown Phoenix" and cancelled it, what a maroon , The good news is that my neighbor just emailed me and said that we are good and there is still a couple of inches left for my pool. I am going to send her instructions on how to lower the level, but we are going to wait until there is someplace for the water to go. I am going to go count my blessings then I am going to re-apply for flood insurance ...Mark

I am in Bahia De Kino, on the west coast of the mainland, about 60 miles west of Hermosillo. You are right about the dust storms, for a week or so. They had a giant one 2 days ago, I saw it on the news. I can tell the grand kids that I missed the all-time record rainfall for 1 day in Phx...Mark
