Ebay rant

I recently had a bobcat for sale on ebay... A fellow bid on it then never returned any of my emails so I opened one of those non-paying bidder cases... Still nothing was done! So I went to leave this bidder negative feedback and come to find out that as a seller I can't leave negative feedback, yet the buyer can leave all the negative feedback he wants! So I get ahold of some ebay customer support person and they tell me that this is so that the buyer doesn't have to fear "feedback retaliation" and it increases buyer confidence. So what does this do for the seller? I've noticed that lately there seem to be a lot less things on ebay than there used to be... Has anybody else noticed this too? I for one don't want to sell anything there anymore if that's what it's going to be like... It's almost like you go to a boxing match but only one guy is allowed to throw punches... It's ridiculous in my oppinion... I'd love to hear everybody's thoughts on this.
Ok, Rant OFF...

I hate e-bay... I use craigslist and love it. Not as broad as e-bay, but a lot easier.

I use eBay to purchase only and have had no bad luck with it. Of course, I am an honest guy and always pay immediately for whatever I purchase. I always make sure the seller has plenty of good feedback and seems legit. I know its not fail safe but lately my purchases on ebay have been small things. I would be awful hesitant spending more that a few hundred dollars there.

I would be furious if someone bought something from me and didnt pay though....

e/bay owns 25% of craigslist, cant get away from the overcharging crooks, plain stupid that you cannot leave feedback for non paying bidders,e/bay just hopes you will relist and pay another fee .

There have been quite a few things on eBay I'd like to buy, but because it's on eBay I won't.

I have only bought on ebay, and other than some people taking close to a week to ship items I've had no problems, although I'd hesitate to spend more than a couple hundred bucks on anything on there. When dealing with money over that amount I prefer to deal in person or with an established online retailer. I also do a fair amount of shopping on craigslist.

Ive dealt with both and only had trouble on ebay. I had identity theft from paypal due to ebay. Don't know how it happened , but know it was from ebay. Done alot of selling on craigs list and it's on my terms. Cash and I'll tell them where I want to meet them or it's no deal. If thier sincere they'll come to you. as for buying from either I've bought from ebay but was very cautious as who to buy from. I'll only buy from an outfit I can talk to or I'll spend the extra and buy it local. Nowadays it hard to do business out there. Alot of people want to screw you. Extra caution is needed.
