Back from Gulfport. Pics

Got back from my first trip to Gulfport over the weekend. Already planning to return last week in November, 1st week December. Man doesn't it get hot and humid down there! The streets are closed to the beach with National Guard checkpoints at every intersection south of the railroad, but they let vehicles thru with mirror hangers. So I thought I would share some pics. The Ram in the pics is not mine, mine remains in the body shop courtesy of a local doe. The van I drove had 7 people (5 men two women) and towed the little enclosed 4x8 trailer. The Ram had 1 man and 4 women and towed the 16' enclosed trailer loaded with saws, ladders and tools and water; the trailer weighed a little under 10K. We had two-way radios and I had to keep begging Sam (in the Ram) to slow down so I could keep up. Next time I go, I hope to have a GPS and a laptop with me. Finding the houses we were assigned was not fun since many road signs are blown away. While we were there, ex Pres. Clinton and current Pres. Bush both toured the area with their entourages and everything for blocks comes to a screeching halt until they’re gone. Anyway the devastation is much worse than the pics depict and they're more pics in my gallery.

Insect repellant takes care of the mosquitos, there is no describing the smell. Soured milk comes close. Many houses have been shut tight to keep out looters, no windows or doors opened so the entire house has mold from floor to water level.

Will drop a FEMA trailer in Baton Rouge, LA late tomorrow. I've delivered several others, but this is as far south as I've been since the flood. I got no problems at all compared with these folks. God Bless Um.

Cheers,
